INCEPT Project: Final International Event with Exhibition of Student Projects

The built environment has a significant environmental footprint and accounts for approximately 40% of EUenergy consumption and 36% of CO2 emissions. The environmental impact of buildings includes not onlyGNG emissions from energy use but also material and resource use, the generation of waste, impacts onwater systems, and harm to habitats, biodiversity, soil health and more. 

It is critical to tackle the buildingsector if the EU wants to achieve its COP21 commitment, because the buildings are a critical piece of thetransition to a lower-carbon future. As stipulated by the European framework for sustainable buildings, well-designed and well-performing buildings providing climate-neutral, healthy and resilient spaces for citizensshould be at the core of every society and its efforts to combat climate change. 

In this context the exhibitionand the conference are the final public event of the Erasmus funded project INCEPT Project that strives forclimate-neutrality and inclusiveness of the built environment by incorporating sustainable and energy efficientbuilding concepts into architectural education with knowledge and skills at building design stage, thussupporting the European Green Deal as one of the main political priorities of the EC. 

The exhibition and thelinked conference will present and discuss the results achieved so far by INCEPT project activities,emphasising the scope, quality and the overall achievements of students' projects exhibited during the event.
